On October 9, the Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov received a member of the Hamas Politburo Musa Abu-Marzuk.

During a detailed conversation, in which Hamas Politburo member Husam Badran also took part, an in-depth exchange of views took place on key aspects of the Palestinian problem, including in the light of the latest agreements between Fatah and Hamas.

On the Russian side, the emphasis was placed on the importance of the early restoration of Palestinian national unity on the political platform of the Palestine Liberation Organization. At the same time, it was emphasized that the success of efforts to solve this problem should contribute to a peaceful, negotiated settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with the existing international legal framework, resolutions of the General Assembly and the UN Security Council, the principle of “two states” and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Based on the conviction that it is impossible to ensure reliable stabilization of the regional situation in the Middle East without a just solution to the Palestinian problem, Moscow is ready to organize the next inclusive meeting of representatives of Fatah, Hamas and other major Palestinian organizations and movements in accordance with the wishes of their leadership, including setting the timing of such an event …
