The Leninsky District Court of the city of Cheboksary, Chuvash Republic, delivered a verdict in a criminal case against the former deputy chairman of the republican cabinet of ministers. He was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe), part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).

The court found that in the period from November to December 2017, an official received a bribe from the head of a commercial organization through three intermediaries in the amount of 2 million rubles for assistance in obtaining a subsidy from the republican budget in the amount of more than 16 million rubles.

In addition, using his official position, the official received from the head of the same organization funds in the amount of 1 million rubles under the pretext of their subsequent transfer as a bribe to one of the officials of the republican authorities, knowing in advance that he would not fulfill the promise.

Together with the punishment previously imposed for committing another crime, the court sentenced the man to 8 years in prison with serving in a penal colony with a strict regime with a fine of 4 million rubles. In addition, he was deprived of the right to hold leading positions in the civil service for 6 years.
