Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) announced that the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada received a U.S. Department of Transportation Helping Obtain Prosperity for Everyone (HOPE) Program Grant, totaling $125,000. The HOPE Program supports transportation projects that will address the transportation challenges faced by rural communities and areas of persistent poverty.
“This federal grant will help improve access to transportation for Nevadans in low-income communities and rural areas,” said Rep. Lee. “The sad reality is that many Nevadans don’t have adequate access to public transportation because of where they live. It’s up to us to change that. This grant is one of many things that can improve access to transportation for all Nevadans. I’ll continue to work day and night to ensure our state has the support it needs from our federal government.”
“We know that many of our transit riders rely solely on public transportation for access to basic necessities, including food, work, medical, and social services,” said MJ Maynard, CEO of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada. “As an agency, we are committed, particularly during these difficult times, to ensuring that mobility options are available for those individuals and families in low-income and historically underserved areas of our community.”
