The Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Murmansk Region pays close attention to training convicts in professions that are in demand on the labor market. All colonies have professional educational institutions, in which convicts learn about 14 different specialties under the guidance of experienced master-mentors.

As in any educational institution, in vocational schools at the colonies, teachers strive to constantly improve their qualifications.

One of the opportunities for the masters to share their experience and see in practice the results of the application of various pedagogical methods and educational technologies are open lessons.

A pioneer in conducting pedagogical master classes this year was vocational school No. 26 at IK-18.

The teacher of the discipline “Electrical Engineering” Dmitry Saukhin held an open lesson with a group of convicts studying to be electricians for the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment.

In the lesson, students studied series, parallel and mixed connection of resistors. From theory to practice, from simple to complex.

After the open lesson, the present colleagues-teachers, as well as the invited director of the school at IK-17, discussed in detail the lesson: the organizational structure, the teaching aids used, the content of the educational material. Colleagues especially noted the high activity and involvement in the educational process of students, as well as their good knowledge of the subject.

The teacher Dmitry Saukhin was unanimously given a high mark for the preparation and methodological support of the lesson itself, as well as recommendations for further improving professional competencies.

On the basis of POU-26 at IK-18, certified electricians are being trained for the second year. The term of study is 10 months. The practice takes place directly in the institution itself, after successfully passing the qualification exam, they are employed at the production facilities of the center for labor adaptation.

Last academic year, 26 electricians with state diplomas were released from the walls of the educational institution. This year, 25 students were trained in this specialty.

It should be noted that today in POU-26 under IK-18, 93 convicts are trained in four professions: operator of sewing equipment, electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, driver (fireman) of a boiler room and a cook.
