New laboratories will help to visually study such branches of physical science as optics and mechanics. Teachers and students will be able to set up experiments, share observations and compare the results obtained not only at school, but also at home.
The library of the Moscow Electronic School (MES) has been replenished with two virtual physics laboratories. They are dedicated to optics and mechanics. It is easy to assemble an experimental setup in them, conduct experiments, discuss the results obtained and compare them with the results of real experiments. This can be done both in the school office and at home.
For example, with the help of the virtual laboratory “Optics”, schoolchildren have the opportunity to conduct experiments in geometric and wave optics. And teachers can show experiments from the school curriculum on determining the wavelength, checking the formula for a thin lens, demonstrating the laws of reflection and refraction of light. Virtual laboratory “Mechanics” allows you to recreate and conduct many experiments using various mechanisms. These are experiments with the balance of the lever and blocks, and experiments on the movement of bodies along horizontal and inclined planes. In this virtual laboratory it is possible to study the influence of the parameters of the mathematical and spring pendulums on their movement, as well as to measure the volumes and densities of bodies and much more.

Virtual laboratories in “MES” are available all year round, so even on holidays, students can consolidate their knowledge in an interactive format, as well as conduct experiments on their own. To get access to them, you need to go to the “MESh” library under your account and on the start screen go to the “Catalog” tab. Here you can find virtual laboratories with convenient filters, just set the “Laboratories” parameter. After that, the screen will display all the laboratories available today – all you have to do is choose the one you need, ”the press service of the Moscow Department of Education and Science explained.
In addition to training videos, the new virtual labs have interactive tips. They will help you figure out what experiments can be carried out and what tools are there for this.
Today, MES users have access to seven virtual laboratories: physical “Optics”, “Mechanics”, “Molecular Physics” and “Electrodynamics” and mathematical “Planimetry”, “Stereometry”, “Graphs of functions”.
The MES library is a service of the Moscow Electronic School project, developed by the Moscow Department of Education and Science in conjunction with the Information Technology Department. The library contains more than 49 thousand lesson scripts and over 4.7 thousand video lessons, about 1600 electronic study guides, 348 textbooks, over 124 thousand educational interactive applications, seven unique virtual laboratories in physics and mathematics, 245 works of fiction, as well as a huge number test items corresponding to the content of the OGE and USE, and much more.
