Four Il-76 aircraft of the military transport aviation of the Aerospace Forces were relocated from the Pskov and Tver regions to the Dyagilevo military airfield to extinguish a fire at an ammunition depot in the Ryazan region.

The crews of military transport aircraft began to fill the aircraft with fuel and the pouring devices with extinguishing liquid.

At dawn on October 8 this year, after reconnaissance of the terrain and setting missions, the crews of the Il-76 aircraft will discharge water onto the fires to localize them.

Il-76 aircraft are equipped with VAP-2 aircraft pouring devices with a capacity of 42 tons. The pilots underwent appropriate training to perform tasks of extinguishing fires in open spaces from the air.

The grouping of the Russian Ministry of Defense, created to extinguish a fire on the territory of the ZVO ammunition storage depot in the Ryazan region, has 189 servicemen, 38 units of military and special equipment, 4 Il-76 aircraft equipped with VAP-2 aircraft pouring devices, 3 Mi-8 helicopters with spillways devices VSU-5.

As part of the units taking part in the elimination of the emergency, robotic systems for mine clearance “Uran-6” and fire extinguishing “Uran-14”, UAV “Orlan-10”, engineering barrage vehicles IMR-2, fire tanks, special armored fire trucks and other special equipment.
