A crime scene has been set up following a suspicious fire at a vacant property in Glenhuntly this morning.

Police were called, along with other emergency services, to reports of a fire at the double story property in Booran Road about 3.15am.

When police arrived, the vacant home was fully engulfed in flames.

At this stage the fire is being treated as suspicious and a crime scene guard has been placed on the property.

It is expected detectives and an arson chemist will attend the site today.

Booran Road is currently closed to both north and south bound traffic and it is expected the roads will remain closed into the morning while the scene is processed and rehabilitated.
