Eligible cinemas and sports coaches can apply for one-off grants under the third round of the Anti-epidemic Fund from today, the Government announced.

The Cinemas Subsidy Scheme is open for applications until October 20.

Each existing cinema licensed as a place of public entertainment with commercial operation in July will be provided a one-off $50,000 subsidy per screen.

The maximum subsidy for a cinema circuit is $1.5 million.

Meanwhile, the One-off Grant to Registered Sports Coaches scheme will provide a one-off $5,000 grant for each eligible registered sports coach.

As most of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department facilities were closed from July 15 due to COVID-19, only to be gradually reopened in mid-September, many sports training activities that relied on such facilities were suspended, particularly those handled by private coaches during the peak summer season.

Sports coaches registered under national sports associations or recognised sports organisations who had provided coaching services from April 1, 2019 to September 30 can apply for the grant by November 30.

The grant will be disbursed in batches about two months after the completed application forms and relevant documents are received by the department’s Sports Funding Office.
