The Government today announced that it is promoting its community recycling network with the help of the Big Waster Chatbot.
The initiative is part of the Reduce and Recycle 2.0 Campaign rolled out by the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) and the Environmental Protection Department.
The campaign’s first phase highlights different types of recyclables and the department’s community recycling network.
The new Big Waster Chatbot function has been introduced on the committee’s Facebook page to help people understand more about the network and search for the nearest recycling locations.
The department explained that the public can click “Send Message” on the ECC Facebook page or use this link to start the chatbot, which can also help them check information about the Community Smart Recycling Vehicle’s tour schedule.
Additionally, the augmented reality game that received enthusiastic responses when introduced on Facebook and Instagram, has been relaunched on Instagram (Chinese only) to keep familiarising citizens with the eight types of recyclables accepted by the community recycling network.
The first 100 participants who complete the game requirements will also win a Big Waster-shaped collapsible food container.
The department also reminded citizens to reduce waste at source and stay green while fighting the virus. It said when ordering takeaway meals, avoid requesting plastic bags or disposable tableware and use your own containers wherever practicable.
