The prosecutor’s office of the Pskov region has approved the indictment in a criminal case against two residents of St. Petersburg. They are accused of committing crimes under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group on an especially large scale).

It was established that the defendants, together with the persons currently on the wanted list, acting as part of an organized criminal group, with the aim of illegally taking possession of funds, created two credit and consumer cooperatives, one of which operated in the town of Velikiye Luki, Pskov region, and the second – on the territory of the Leningrad Region and in the town of Novy Urengoy, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

The cybercriminals offered citizens to deposit money and receive a high income of 18 to 25% per annum.

At the initial stage, citizens received the promised money, then payments stopped.

As a result of these actions, more than 76.7 million rubles were stolen from 175 citizens.

The criminal case was sent to the Velikie Luki City Court for consideration on the merits.
