Specialists of the Hydrographic Service of the Troops and Forces in the North-East of Russia carry out maintenance of aids to navigation on the mainland and in the island zones of the Bering and Okhotsk Seas for the transition to winter operating conditions.

In the course of the work, light-optical devices are checked, they are focused, lamps and power sources are replaced, as well as ongoing repairs of floating, coastal signs and lights, automated beacons in the unit’s area of ​​responsibility are underway.

Until the closure of navigation, more than 130 different navigation facilities will be serviced to ensure the safety of navigation. The northernmost point of the specialists’ work is Cape Navarin of the Kamchatka Peninsula, the southernmost point is the North Kuril island of Matua. To accomplish these tasks, specialized hydrographic vessels and boats of the Kamchatka region of the Pacific Fleet Hydrographic Service are involved.
