The championship of Russia in rowing among athletes under 23 years old has ended in Rostov-on-Don. 425 rowers from 21 constituent entities of the Russian Federation took part in the competition.

Army athletes from St. Petersburg won 12 awards of various denominations at the championship – 8 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze medals.

Ordinary sports company CSKA (St. Petersburg) Artur Kunka and Kirill Goryachev became the best in the lightweight doubles competition with a result of 7 minutes 3.59 seconds.

Athletes from the CSKA sports company (St. Petersburg) Fyodor Shvetsov and Valery Bakaev took the lead in the men’s fours with the helmsman with a score of 6 minutes 39.59 seconds.

Private sportsmen of the Central Sports Club of the Army (St. Petersburg) Sergei Ponomarev also climbed to the first step of the podium, winning the lightweight singles race with a time of 7 minutes 37.97 seconds.

Also Sergey Ponomarev in a team with Artur Kunka and Kirill Goryachev became the first in the race of fours with a result of 6 minutes 32.03 seconds.

In the men’s fours competition with the helmsman, the team of the student of the sports school of the Olympic reserve CSKA (St. Petersburg) Nikita Kukarin took second place (6 minutes 21.34 seconds).

Army men Valery Bakaev and Fedor Shvetsov closed the top three in the men’s eights (6 minutes 8.89 seconds).

The winner of the bronze medal in the lightweight single event was Dmitry Nosov, a pupil of the SS (ORK) CSKA (St. Petersburg).
