The prosecutor’s office of the Samara region has approved the indictment in a criminal case against a local resident. He is accused of committing a crime under paragraph “a” of Part 3 of Art. 243.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal search and withdrawal of archaeological objects from the places of occurrence using special technical means of search).

According to the investigation, in March 2020, in the Volga District of the Samara Region, a man illegally, using shovels and a metal detector, carried out archaeological excavations at a site included in the Unified State Register of Cultural Heritage Objects (Historical and Cultural Monuments) of the peoples of the Russian Federation. The specified object has cultural layers: the Timber culture of the Late Bronze Age of the third quarter of the 2nd millennium BC. and the Russian village of the XIX – early XX centuries.

Possessing reliable information about the presence of archaeological sites on this territory, he discovered and dug out from the ground a rifle model of 1895, which has historical and cultural value.

As a result of the unlawful actions of the accused, the cultural layer of the object of the historical and cultural heritage of federal (all-Russian) significance of the Samara region “Fedorovskoe settlement, II millennium BC” was damaged.

The criminal case was sent to the Privolzhsky District Court of the Samara Region for consideration on the merits.
