On Sunday October 4, 2020 at around 11:20 p.m., the police were notified by several witnesses of an accident on the A1 Lausanne – Geneva motorway. A driver was driving towards Geneva when, for a reason to be determined by the investigation, her vehicle swerved to the right and crossed the emergency lane. He then drove on the grassy strip which runs alongside the motorway before arriving at the motorway bridge which crosses the road from Gare to Tolochenaz. The car continued its course, rolling down the embankment, coming to a stop on the road several meters below. When help arrived, the driver, a 34-year-old Swiss woman, was found dead in the cabin of the car.

An investigation was opened by the prosecutor on duty. The investigations were entrusted to investigators from the Vaud Gendarmerie traffic unit.

The Vaud cantonal police are appealing for witnesses in order to establish precisely the circumstances of this accident. Those in possession of material that could advance the investigation are requested to contact the Engagement and Communication Center on 021 333 5 333.

This accident required the intervention of two patrols from the Morges Region Police, firefighters from SDIS Morget, an ambulance from CSU Morges-Aubonne and SMUR, as well as a patrol and traffic units from the Gendarmerie Vaudoise.

The road to Tolochenaz Station and the right-hand lane of the motorway have been temporarily closed for the purposes of investigation and vehicle repair.
