Today the two-day business call of the Russian Navy’s training ship Smolny has begun at the Greek port of Thessaloniki. On October 7, the ship will continue to perform the tasks of a long voyage around Europe. On board the training ship are over 250 cadets and officers of the Baltic Naval Institute named after F.F. Ushakov and the Naval Institute (Peter the Great Naval Corps). The plan for the long-range cruise of the Smolny Company was approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.

Earlier in Sevastopol, the Smolny management company within three days replenished stocks for further travel along the route. As part of a long voyage under the guidance of the most trained crew members of the ship, cadets will have to daily work out activities on the basics of ship organization, classes in maritime and navigational training, in the fight for ship damage, keeping watch on the navigating bridge, as well as the ship practice program provides for general, physical and special training.

The Smolny Management Company left Kronstadt on July 7, 2020. As part of the long voyage, the ship has already passed more than 13 seas of the Arctic and Atlantic oceans and made calls to the main bases and bases of the Northern and Black Sea fleets. The return of the ship to the base point – Kronstadt – is scheduled for the end of October.
