The Russian motorized rifle units of the 201st military base defeated the superior forces of the mock enemy on the exercise in Tajikistan.

During the drawing of practical actions, the personnel of the formation worked out modern methods of conducting combat training operations. The servicemen performed defensive maneuvers, inflicting maximum losses on the conditional enemy, as well as offensive actions using reconnaissance unmanned aircraft. In addition, the crews of the Mi-24 attack helicopters provided air support to the defending units. The pilots carried out bombing at ground targets, imitating a column of enemy armored vehicles. At the stage of live firing, the servicemen hit targets imitating the enemy’s manpower and equipment, using weapons of BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, as well as RPG-7V, AGS-17 grenade launchers and standard small arms.

In total, more than 500 servicemen were involved in the two-day exercise, which took place at the Sambuli training ground from October 1 to 2, about 50 units of military equipment were involved.

For reference:

The 201st military base in Tajikistan is Russia’s largest military facility outside its borders. Located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. According to the agreement signed in October 2012, the connection will be in Tajikistan until 2042.
