Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Mayor of Toronto John Tory to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Prime Minister and the Mayor spoke about the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Toronto, and the unique challenges currently facing larger cities across Canada. They discussed contact tracing, testing, and the Rapid Housing Initiative as ways to help contain the spread of the virus and keep people safe.
Prime Minister Trudeau spoke of the recent investments to support businesses and a safe return to school, including the Regional Relief and Recovery Fund and the Safe Return to Class Fund. They also discussed the importance of having virtual care and mental health tools available to help support the health and well-being of all Canadians.
As the country works toward economic recovery from the pandemic and begins to build back better, Prime Minister Trudeau committed to being there to help municipalities, provinces, and territories in their response and recovery from the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The Prime Minister and the Mayor agreed to continue working together on the response to COVID-19, in order to protect the health and safety of the people of Toronto, and all Canadians.
