On Friday, Rep. Ralph Norman issued the following statement after voting against H. Res. 1154:
“This resolution was yet another worthless messaging bill that does absolutely nothing to address the violence taking place in cities throughout our nation. For Congress to pass a resolution condemning QAnon by name, but make no such mention of other violent organizations, is shameful.
“I condemn in the strongest terms QAnon, Antifa, KKK and every other group – on both the far-left and far-right – that has brought unrest and violence to countless communities throughout our nation. Every individual associated with these organizations should face the full weight of the American justice system.
“My record and stance denouncing the violence these groups cause have been crystal clear. In fact, few in Congress have been more supportive of efforts to stop this violence while supporting our law enforcement officers than have I.
“This resolution fell far short of the mark and was a tremendous missed opportunity. Many leaders who are critical of my vote in opposition to this distraction are, to nobody’s surprise, the same ones who were completely silent for months while far-left activists tore through our nation’s cities.
“For those leaders on the left who have stood by and said nothing about this violence over the spring and summer, my vote will not be used to help you recover politically from months of inaction, when your voices needed to be heard the most. Particularly on a resolution that conveniently failed to list some of the most well-known organizations that have terrorized of our nation’s cities.”
