A working meeting between the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Kurgan Region Mikhail Machushkin and the Deputy Executive Director of PJSC Kurganmashzavod for civilian products Sergei Bocharov took place. The leaders discussed the possibility of increasing the withdrawal to work of convicts serving sentences in correctional colony No. 6 in the village of Ikovka. It is the largest correctional institution in the region, serving more than 1,500 people.

Since Soviet times, several shops of the Kurganmashzavod have been located on the territory of IK-6. Then almost all the convicts worked to fulfill the state order. Today, Kurgan Mechanical Plant LLC operates on this production base. The enterprise employs 122 convicts who are engaged in metal and woodworking, produce small architectural forms for the improvement of urban areas, playgrounds, and master children’s furniture.

During the working meeting Sergei Bocharov examined the production facilities and equipment, got acquainted with the products produced by the correctional institutions of the region. The good quality of the workwear and the variety of the product range were noted.

Mikhail Machushkin emphasized that the existing production base of Kurganmashzavod allows doubling the number of employees, but it is necessary to provide the enterprise with stable orders. The institution can prepare the necessary specialists for almost any production. In a vocational school on the territory of IK-6, convicts receive more than 10 professions.

As a result of the event, the parties expressed their readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation, issues for detailed study were outlined, including the employment of convicts, the effective use of production facilities and the renewal of equipment.
