The personnel of the consolidated detachment of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation completed the demolition of emergency buildings after the 2019 flood in Tulun, Irkutsk Region.

“In total, more than 450 emergency buildings were dismantled on the territory of the city, which became unusable as a result of the floods in 2019,” said Alexander Terentyev, deputy commander of the consolidated detachment.

The press service of the Central Military District added that for the dismantling and demolition of emergency structures, the engineers used the IMR-2M engineering barrage vehicle based on the T-72 tank. After that, the sections were leveled using the BAT-2 engineering track-paver and an excavator. At the moment, the personnel have returned to their points of permanent deployment.

“We had places where people left their homes. There was a threat to fire safety, and it was striking that the territory was in a terrible state. This year, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation came to help us clean up the territory. And we are very grateful to the guys, who have completed the task, “said Tulun Mayor Yuri Karikh.

A composite detachment of specialists from engineering units with military special equipment arrived in Tulunsky district at the end of August. The personnel assisted the administration and residents of the city in dismantling buildings that had fallen into disrepair as a result of the consequences of the 2019 flood.
