Cadets of the Black Sea Higher Naval Order of the Red Star of the School named after P.S. Nakhimov returned to Sevastopol after the completion of the navigator’s voyage on the training ship Smolny.

The trip, which took place from July 7 to September 30, was organized in accordance with the plan approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. At this stage of the navigational cruise, the ship passed the route Sevastopol – Mediterranean Sea – Sevastopol.

As part of the practice, more than 100 cadets on the Smolny training ship covered about 4 thousand nautical miles in 17 sailing days.

The naval practice program included daily classes on the basics of naval organization, naval training, ship survivability, as well as general, special and physical training, the organization of which involved the practice leaders and the most trained officers, warrant officers and foremen of the ship.

During the cruise, the cadets mastered the basic methods of navigation and solving navigation problems in preparation for independently maintaining a navigational watch while sailing in the open sea and near the coast. In addition, the future officers in practice worked out the primary damage control measures at the ship’s training complex.

The campaign made it possible to form reliable moral and volitional qualities in future naval officers, to undergo hardening by sea in difficult conditions, to acquire practical skills in the performance of official duties.
