Servicemen of the mountain motorized rifle unit of the Central Military District (CVO), stationed in the Republic of Tuva, congratulated veteran Kirill Ivanovich Markov on the Day of Ground Forces at the Kara-Khaak training ground, giving him the right to fire from a modern 120-mm self-propelled artillery gun “Nona-SVK”.

In honor of the holiday, for one day, the 90-year-old veteran of the ground forces became a member of the crew of the self-propelled guns “Nona-SVK” of the mountain motorized rifle unit. Despite his age, the veteran is full of strength and with the very first shot from a 120-mm artillery gun from an open firing position with a semi-direct fire, he destroyed a “jihad-mobile” of a mock enemy.

“The car, the equipment is very good, excellent! We hit the target where we need to! Such a weapon is our defense! ” – noted the veteran.

The commander of a self-propelled artillery battery, senior lieutenant Nikolai Molchaev, told Kirill Ivanovich about the features of the unique artillery installation. The veteran was shown the composition of the Nona-SVK self-propelled guns ammunition – special high-explosive artillery shells, 120-mm mortar mines – high-explosive, lighting, smoke and incendiary mines.

On October 1, Russia celebrates the Day of the Ground Forces. The ground forces are considered the most numerous in terms of combat strength of the Armed Forces of Russia, which include numerous separate brigades of various types, such as motorized rifle troops, tank troops, air defense troops and others.
