“Greetings, everyone. This is Congressman Sarbanes.
“I just want to recognize and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, which is a wonderful opportunity to bring attention and recognition to the culture and history and legacy of the Latinx community in our country.
“The tremendous contributions that have been made, which have enriched the United States of America in immeasurable ways.
“Clearly during this pandemic, we are all struggling across the country in different ways. But we know that the health effects and the economic impact of this pandemic has fallen disproportionately on certain communities in our country, including Hispanic communities in many places. And that’s why we have to bring special attention and relief and assistance to those communities.
“I am proud to be a sponsor and to have supported the Ending Health Disparities Act this year and also to have pushed hard for the CARES relief package and continue to push hard with respect to additional relief that we can bring to the American people.
“Again, thank you for the contributions that come from the Hispanic community in Maryland and across the country.
“They say that the diversity of the United States is our strength, the unity in our country is our power. And at the center of that equation is the Latinx community.
“Congratulations on your wonderful contributions to our nation.”
