(Thu, 01 Oct 2020) U.S. coal production during the second quarter of 2020 totaled 115.2 million short tons (MMst), which was 22.7% lower than the previous quarter and 35.9% lower than the second quarter of 2019. Second-quarter 2020 U.S. coal exports (14.8 MMst) decreased 26% from the first-quarter 2020 level and decreased 43% from the second-quarter 2019 level. U.S. coal imports in the second quarter of 2020 totaled 1.1 MMst. All data for 2019 and previous years are final. All data for 2020 are preliminary.
