POTTSVILLE, Pa. – Tonight, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 925, a partisan messaging bill put forth by House Democrat Leadership. The bill passed the House by a slim vote margin of 214 to 207.
“Instead of working on targeted, bipartisan legislation that would help our nation and economy continue to recover from the coronavirus crisis, Speaker Pelosi put forward a messaging bill that has no chance of ever becoming law. H.R. 925 would ban states from legislating voter ID laws, give illegal immigrants stimulus checks, and make Planned Parenthood affiliates eligible for the Paycheck Protection Program. It even cuts police funding that was included in previous versions of this bill. These provisions have nothing to do with our national crisis and serve only to appease the far-left liberal base. Once again, Speaker Pelosi appears to be more interested in the problem rather than the solution. It’s no wonder that 18 members of her own party joined all Republicans in voting against this legislation.”
