House China Task Force Report Includes Hill Legislation

Washington, September 30, 2020 WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, the House China Task Force released a report detailing recommendations to increase national security and hold China accountable. These steps include modernizing the U.S. military to counter threats from China, reducing U.S. reliance on China for manufacturing by moving supply chains, and halting intellectual property theft by safeguarding the nation against the Chinese government’s global ideological, economic, and military efforts. Two of Rep. French Hill’s (AR-02) bills, H.R. 6399, the SAVE Act, and H.R. 5932, the Ensuring Chinese Debt Transparency Act, were recommended in the report.  “I commend House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Mike McCaul for taking the initiative and releasing this important analysis calling for a commonsense approach to defend our nation and hold China accountable. The Chinese Communist Party has continually proven that it is an unreliable partner in global affairs, and it must be held to the same high standards as other nations. The Task Force has recommended two of my bills as part of the solution, including removing dependence on China for medical supplies and developing a global effort to ensure more scrutiny of China as a major creditor nation. By taking these initiatives, the United States strengthens our economy and defends the American people while providing a much-needed check on China’s malintent.” MIL OSI USA News
