The Federal Ministry of Economics is funding 30 model projects that try out innovative support offers for company succession regionally and thus set new impulses. In Germany, 1.5 million business owners are 55 years of age or older. Especially in economically challenging times, it helps when the succession is clarified. Funding takes place within the framework of the BMWi initiative “Company succession – from practice for practice”. The SME Commissioner and Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Thomas Bareiß: “Germany has a successfully grown structure of medium-sized companies that has grown from generation to generation Generation are passed on. These entrepreneurs stand for efficiency, innovative strength and a sense of responsibility and make our country one of the world’s most successful economic nations. In the next five years around 500,000 entrepreneurs plan to hand over their company to the next generation. A regular corporate succession is often a feat of strength. It is the basis for investments, growth as well as securing and creating new jobs, which we urgently need, especially after the corona pandemic. ”A company succession is also an attractive opportunity to start self-employment, according to Bareiß:“ Many family entrepreneurs will be their companies give hands outside the family. A company takeover therefore also offers many potential entrepreneurs a great opportunity to build on qualified employees, an established brand and successful products or services. ”The approaches in the model projects are diverse. They range from role model campaigns, successor workshops, trainee programs for successors to successor coaches, a successor bus to follow-up networks and the specific matching of submitters and successors.
