With the BMW G 310 GS, BMW Motorrad opened a new world of experience in the displacement segment below 500 ccm in 2016. Extremely compact, robust and extremely versatile, it immediately established itself as a real BMW GS – especially for beginners. Four years after its debut, BMW Motorrad is now presenting the new BMW G 310 GS. More versatile, safer and more dynamic – whether in everyday traffic, on enjoyable journeys on country roads or off-road in easy terrain. Single-cylinder engine according to EU-5 homologation with e-gas and automatic idle increase. The heart of the new BMW G 310 GS is still the tried and tested 313 cc, liquid-cooled single cylinder engine with four valves, two overhead camshafts and electronic fuel injection. The cylinder inclination to the rear and the cylinder head rotated by 180 degrees with inlet at the front and outlet at the rear remain a structural characteristic. This arrangement follows the logic of optimal combustion air routing and results in a particularly compact vehicle architecture. With an output of 25 kW (34 hp) at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm, the single-cylinder of the new BMW G 310 GS is also the ideal partner in the current EU-5 homologation for dynamic motorcycle pleasure. For use in the new BMW G 310 GS, the engine was equipped with a so-called “electronic throttle” (E-gas) and now offers an even more sensitive throttle response. An automatic idle speed increase when starting off also prevents the engine from suddenly stalling. The self-reinforcing slipper clutch is also new. It reduces the engine drag torque and brings a significant plus in driving safety – especially during braking maneuvers that are associated with simultaneous downshifts. In addition, it offers significantly reduced operating forces on the clutch lever. New LED headlights and LED indicators – optimally see and be seen. While the BMW G 310 GS previously had an LED brake light, the new BMW G 310 GS now provides a full LED headlight for even better visibility when driving at night and LED flashing lights for increased visibility in traffic. The new LED headlights not only offer particularly bright and homogeneous illumination of the road. Rather, due to the changed connection, annoying vibrations of the light cone are a thing of the past. The three light functions high and low beam as well as, depending on the country, the daytime running lights can be conveniently operated via the left handlebar switch. They now offer ergonomic advantages – especially for people with small hands. Level 3 of the brake lever setting corresponds to the previous reach. In position 1, the brake lever moves 6 mm closer to the handlebars. A gently revised design with an attractive basic color and two exclusive style variants. GS is a promise at BMW Motorrad. It stands for absolute function, for reliability and robustness. Accordingly, the new BMW G 310 GS can be identified at first glance as a genuine BMW GS. With a characteristic windshield, high front fender, distinctive flyline and short, high rear, it shows the essential elements of the large BMW R 1250 GS models – and looks even more aggressive and dynamic from the front thanks to the new LED headlights. The color scheme also reflects the affiliation with BMW GS family reflected. All three color variants of the BMW G 310 GS have in common the engine housing covers for the generator, clutch and water pump now painted in Titanium Gray metallic. In addition to the typical GS color in white with the basic color polar white and gray tank side panels, the new BMW G 310 GS comes in style Rally very sporty. The red painted frame and kyanite blue metallic for the central tank cover and front spout emphasize the off-road talent and make the vehicle appear extremely dynamic. As the “40 Years GS” edition, however, the BMW G 310 GS borrows from a famous historical model from the BMW GS history – the R 100 GS. Accordingly, it appears in black and yellow – with the basic color cosmic black and yellow graphics on the tank side panels. Just in time for the anniversary, BMW Motorrad is also presenting a new rider equipment collection. All new features of the BMW G 310 GS at a glance: • Single-cylinder engine according to EU-5 homologation with e-gas and automatic idle speed increase. • Self-reinforcing anti-hopping clutch. • New LED- Headlights and LED indicators. • Four-stage adjustable hand levers for brakes and clutch. • Engine housing covers for generator, clutch and water pump painted in titanium gray metallic. • Softly revised design with an attractive basic color and two exclusive style variants.
