WIESBADEN – On October 1st, 2020, the Federal Government started the public dialogue on the further development of the German Sustainability Strategy (DNS). These include lower greenhouse gas emissions as well as sustainable procurement and better education. Compared to the last update of the German Sustainability Strategy in 2018, the dialogue version includes three new indicators on the subjects of “Women in management positions in the federal public service”, “Fathers’ participation in parental allowance” and the “Number of objects in the German digital library”.

During the public online consultation, it is possible until October 31, 2020 to send comments on the version of the dialogue to the federal government by e-mail. The aim of the federal government is to publish the further developed strategy in the first half of 2021.

On its online platform, the Federal Statistical Office provides information on the DNS indicators as well as data for Germany on the global sustainability goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs). Since the German Sustainability Strategy is the national implementation of the 2030 Agenda, related indicators of both strategies are linked on the platform.
