Celebrations dedicated to the 76th anniversary of the establishment of the Keletsko-Berlin Guards Artillery Brigade of the Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District (ZVO) were held today in Luga (Leningrad Region).

For the guests of the event, the servicemen of the formation organized a static display of weapons and military equipment on the brigade’s equipment, an exhibition of small arms from the Great Patriotic War and rare artillery pieces.

During the solemn meeting, the commander of the unit, Colonel Stanislav Kotin, presented departmental awards and distinctions to servicemen who showed high results in combat training and field training.

The personnel of the brigade were congratulated by front-line soldiers and veterans of the unit, residents and art groups of Luga. The celebration ended with a parade-concert of the combined orchestra of the Luga garrison.

The Keletsko-Berlin Order of Kutuzov, Bohdan Khmelnitsky, Alexander Nevsky and the Red Star, the Guards Artillery Brigade traces its history back to the 200th Light Artillery Brigade formed in Poland in 1944. During the Great Patriotic War, the servicemen of the formation took part in the battles for the capture of the city of Neisse, the Sandomierz-Silesian, Berlin and Prague offensive operations. For their courage and heroism in the Great Patriotic War, 1,470 soldiers, sergeants and officers were awarded orders and medals, of which 10 received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
