Credit: Roberto Castro / MTurThe Minister of Tourism, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, chaired this Wednesday (30.09) the 1st ordinary meeting of 2020 of the Deliberative Council of Embratur (Brazilian Agency for International Promotion of Tourism). The agenda included the executive secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Daniel Nepomuceno, the president of Embratur, Gilson Machado Neto, and other members of the group. All items on the agenda of the meeting were approved, such as the Collegiate’s Internal Regulations, the Transition Plan and changes in the Agency’s structure. During his speech, Minister Marcelo Álvaro cited the measures that the federal government adopted to help the sector and highlighted the important mission of always, with great confidence, dealing with the resumption of activities. “The key word is responsibility in the return of activities, which must always follow biosafety protocols”, he emphasized. The minister also highlighted the sensitivity of President Jair Bolsonaro in understanding and supporting Brazilian tourism. “The President is aware that tourism is a major generator of employment and income”, he stressed. The Council is composed of representatives from Embratur; the Ministries of Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Economy, Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications and the Environment; the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (ABIH); the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM); of the Brazilian Association of Cruises (CLIA Brasil) and of the Brazilian Association of Tour Operators (BRAZTOA) .The President of Embratur, Gilson Machado Neto, praised the efforts of Minister Marcelo Álvaro and President Jair Bolsonaro for advances in tourism. “I want to emphasize my gratitude to President Bolsonaro and Minister Marcelo for everything that has been done in tourism.
