Source: DOSB The German Triathlon Union and the German Triathlon Youth have jointly published a protection concept for the prevention of sexual violence in triathlons.

The concept conveys the basics of preventing sexualized violence (PsG) in sport, provides recommendations for action and names contact persons for trainers, club boards and athletes. “We protect children, young people and adults from all forms of violence at the top. The now published concept forms the basis of the DTU in the fight against sexual violence in triathlon. We do not tolerate attacks of any kind, whether physical or psychological, “says Prof. Martin Engelhardt, President of the DTU.” I feel the role that the German Triathlon Union and the German Triathlon Youth play in the preventive fight against sexual violence, as very progressive and groundbreaking. We, as athletes, can count ourselves lucky to be part of such an association that actively deals with the problem of sexual violence and provides recommendations for action and contact persons in an emergency “says Lena Meißner, DTU athletes spokeswoman.” The concept, which we have developed in the past few months, offers our activists concrete assistance on how to deal with cases of sexual violence and focuses on the occurrences at the federal level. At the same time, we want to encourage regional associations and clubs to develop their own concepts tailored to their needs and to orientate themselves towards our protection concept ”, says Mirco Beyer, youth secretary of the German Triathlon Youth. The protection concept has already been sent to the regional associations and is available on the website of the DTU available (source: DTU)
