After the completion of the Kavkaz-2020 strategic command and staff exercise (CMHU), Russian units of the military base in Abkhazia are returning to their places of permanent deployment.

As part of the Kavkaz-2020 command and control squadron, Russian servicemen and the Ministry of Defense of Abkhazia, as part of a joint grouping of troops, performed combat missions at the Tsabal and Nagvalou training grounds.

The units will march in a combined way along public roads and cover about 150 kilometers of the way to the point of permanent deployment.

Heavy tracked vehicles of tank and artillery units will be transported on road trawls. From the air, the convoys on the march are covered by aviation on Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters.

In Abkhazia, in the mountains and on the Black Sea coast, more than 1.5 thousand people and about 500 units of military equipment from the defense departments of the two countries took part in the Kavkaz-2020 command and control squadron.

The Caucasus-2020 exercise was conducted under the leadership of the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, on the territory of the Southern Military District in the Black and Caspian Seas. About 80 thousand people took part in them, including employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the National Guard, as well as up to 1 thousand soldiers from Armenia, Belarus, Iran, China, Myanmar and Pakistan. Up to 12.9 thousand military personnel were involved in episodes falling under the Vienna Document 2011 on Confidence and Security Building Measures.
