The Government today urged the public to maintain vigilance against COVID-19 while celebrating National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Under Secretary for Food & Health Dr Chui Tak-yi made the appeal during a press briefing ahead of the public holidays.
“With the long weekend, our advice to the general public is that although we are slowly relaxing the different requirements for different scheduled premises and also catering business operations, we advise them to observe very closely personal hygiene, wear masks properly, attend to personal and hand hygiene, and also avoid staying in crowded and poorly ventilated places for unnecessarily long durations.”
Dr Tsui emphasised that it would take some time to detect the risk of a relapse in coronavirus infections.
“The incubation period of the virus may involve maybe six days in general, but it can last for at least 14 days.
“We may need some time to observe the risk of any relapse. With a foreseeable long holiday, I think we may also need some time to observe the pattern. So the main message is that be very cautious.”
