Binh Phuoc FC produced a big surprise on the last matchday of phase 1 by overcoming hosts Hue FC 1-0 to break into the table’s top six teams, who will play on a round robin basis in Group A (phase 2) to decide the overall winners of the trophy and the solitary V.League promotion slot.
Leaders Ba Ria-Vung Tau FC continued to display brilliant form with a one-star victory over Dak Lak FC, while Pho Hien FC dropped to fourth place following their 0-1 home defeat against Binh Dinh FC, who then climbed to third.
Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN concluded their first-phase campaign in second place after thrashing Dong Thap FC 3-0. Meanwhile, An Giang FC rounded up the top six despite losing 1-2 to XSKT Can Tho.
Group B of phase 2 features the bottom six teams of phase 1, namely Hue FC (15 points), XM Fico – YTL Tay Ninh (14), Dak Lak FC (10), XSKT Can Tho (9), Long An FC (9) and Dong Thap FC (8).
The second phase of V.League 2 – 2020 will kick off on October 8 with three Group A clashes – Ba Ria Vung Tau vs Binh Phuoc, Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN vs Pho Hien FC and Binh Dinh FC vs An Giang FC.
The Group B campaign will commence the following day with three matches, Hue FC vs Long An FC, XM Fico – YTL Tay Ninh vs XSKT Can Tho, and Dak Lak FC and Dong Thap FC.
