The exhibition presented baskets, carved boxes, wicker furniture, kitchen sets, wood products: rolling pins, dishes, boards. A large number of souvenirs, checkers, backgammon, birdhouses are presented. Fair visitors noted that such goods could not be found in a simple store, assessed the quality and prices.

– The most popular product is a basket made of wicker. This is due to the fact that the season for picking mushrooms and berries has begun in the Kirov region. Baskets are available in different sizes from 3 to 20 liters. Carved boxes were also popular. They, as a rule, are taken for gifts, – said Olga Danilova, engineer of the marketing department of the labor adaptation department of convicts of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Kirov region.

The main purpose of participation in the exhibition is not only to show the production capacity of correctional institutions, high quality goods, but also to attract new business investors to cooperation to expand the range and increase the number of jobs for convicts. More than 20 industries have been established in the colonies of the region, 5 thousand convicts have been employed, which is equal in number to a large factory.

The list of products is wide – from traditional souvenirs, lumber, to furniture, plastic windows, LED lamps, reinforced barbed tape. There is a sewing and shoe production, the production of flour, cereals is open, paving slabs, road curbs, metal trash cans, greenhouses are produced.

– The most effective means of correcting convicts is labor. Convicts receive salaries and pay off lawsuits. On the territory of the correctional institution, everyone can acquire a working profession, which will help to find a job after release, – added Olga Danilova.
