The Department of Health announced today that a clerical grade worker at its Kennedy Town Community Complex Dental Clinic has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19.

The patient is a household contact of a confirmed case announced today. He developed symptoms while waiting for admission to the quarantine camp and was sent to the hospital for testing. He was notified of the preliminary positive result tonight.

He last went to work yesterday. He wore a mask and followed disease prevention measures at work. In the past 14 days of his duty, he mainly performed duties in the office and made no contact with the public.

The clinic will be closed for thorough cleaning and disinfection immediately. Its general public session on August 14 will also be suspended.

The staff will contact affected clients to reschedule their appointments.

Epidemiological investigations and contact tracing are ongoing.

The department reminded all staff to maintain personal hygiene and be vigilant at all times.
