Servicemen of the Special Forces Medical Detachment (MOSN) of the Central Military District (CVD) completed work to provide assistance to the Russian military and the population of Syria and returned to Novosibirsk. They provided assistance for several months.

The commander of the Russian group of forces in Syria, Lieutenant General Alexander Chaiko, before sending the detachment from the Khmeimim airbase to Russia, noted that the medical staff provided assistance around the clock.

“Since arriving in the Russian group in the Syrian Arab Republic, the medical staff has been receiving patients around the clock, saving lives, and providing medical assistance to the personnel. Throughout the entire period of the trip, each of you honestly and selflessly fulfilled his military duty, ”said Alexander Chaiko.

The head of the detachment, lieutenant colonel of the medical service, Akhmed Abdulkadyrov, said that during the trip to Syria, military doctors performed a variety of tasks. “The tasks that the detachment performed were significantly expanded in the sense that in addition to working in the detachment itself. I had to perform tasks outside the detachment, such as thermometry, examination of incoming and outgoing military personnel in Syria. There were also visits of our medical teams to the places of diagnostics, ”said Akhmed Abdulkadyrov.

In addition to monitoring the health of Russian servicemen, during the trip, a detachment of about 70 doctors also provided assistance to over 5 thousand residents of Syria. In addition, Russian specialists took more than 30 thousand samples from the population to determine the disease of a new coronavirus infection. As a result of the trip, departmental awards were presented to more than 10 servicemen of the medical unit.

A special-purpose medical detachment is a military unit designed to perform tasks for the provision of first medical, qualified and specialized medical care in any conditions of peace and wartime, including in combat zones, elimination of the consequences of natural disasters, accidents and catastrophes.
