A new high-speed buggy “Strela” will appear in the Airborne Forces. Currently, work is underway to create it.

The mobility characteristics of this model are unique. The maximum possible travel speed is 155 km per hour. Currently, a whole family of such vehicles has been developed that can be used for various purposes, including for mounting weapons.

The need to create a buggy was demonstrated in September 2019 at the Center-2019 exercise. “Arrows” are planned to equip airborne units of the “new, light type”.

The base car of the family weighs 4.7 tons. The armor provides ballistic protection of the 2nd class (protects against bullets with a heat-strengthened core of a 5.45×39 mm cartridge from AK-74, bullets with a heat-strengthened core of a cartridge of 7.62×39 mm from AKM, bullets with a non-heat-strengthened core of a cartridge of 7.62×54 mm from SVD). Mine protection saves the lives of the crew inside the vehicle when mines or explosive devices with a capacity of up to 2 kg in TNT are detonated under the wheel.

The maximum speed of Strela on the highway is up to 155 km / h, the capacity is up to eight people. The vehicle can be transported on the external sling of a Mi-8 helicopter.

The design of the machine is based on promising units, assemblies and parts that are planned to be mastered in mass production of the domestic auto industry, 100% of the components are manufactured in Russia.
