As part of the overhaul of the Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge, the dismantling of the granite slabs began. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov

“In total, it is planned to dismantle and send for restoration about 4.5 thousand square meters of granite. Specialists will eliminate local damage and return the slabs to their original appearance, after which they will be used again for facing the bridge, ”he said.

Pyotr Biryukov also said that during the repair work, more than eight thousand square meters of asphalt were removed from the roadway of the bridge, the reinforced concrete structures of the left bank under-stage space, granite steps, the board between the sidewalk and the road, the concrete base and the fence, the cast-iron elements of which were sent for restoration, were dismantled …

The bridge repair work began on 11 July. Currently, they employ about 200 workers and more than 30 units of construction equipment. During the overhaul, the bridge will actually be rebuilt. In this case, the movement of vehicles is only partially limited.

“Carrying out repairs in this format became possible thanks to the latest unique technologies, which were first used by specialists of the municipal economy complex last year during the overhaul of the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge,” explained Pyotr Biryukov.

The repair of the Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2021.
