The Leisure & Cultural Services Department today said a lifeguard who works at Kowloon Tsai Swimming Pool in Kowloon City has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19.

Since he was identified as a close contact of a confirmed case, the lifeguard was sent to be tested for the virus.

He was notified on the night of August 4 that he preliminarily tested positive. He has been treated under isolation in hospital and is in a stable condition.

He last performed duties on July 25. He wore surgical masks when performing tasks and his body temperature was normal during work.

The swimming pool has been closed since July 15.

The department will arrange thorough cleaning and sterilisation at the swimming pool according to the Centre for Health Protection’s guidelines.

Its staff have been reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and stay vigilant.
