Source: DOSBThe sports year 2020 is completely different than planned. At the moment, the Corona state of emergency still applies, but there are also positive signals: just over a week ago, Team Germany, together with athletes from more than 200 nations, would have actually celebrated the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Tokyo. This sentence alone reveals that everything is going completely differently than planned this year. A lot has happened in the sports world during the two-month summer break of the DOSB press, but the state of emergency still applies in the face of the global corona pandemic, and any possible change depends, of course, primarily on how the pandemic develops – the positive signals are therefore all the more important for sport in the past two months. After the sport in the clubs under corona conditions has gradually started up again since May, the next step is the return to competitive sport. It has already taken place in some regions, for example in football, tennis or in athletics; in motorsport this coming weekend even with 5000 spectators at the Nürburgring (see also under “From the member associations”). But the goal of the DOSB and its member organizations is nationwide regulations, because many leagues and competitions are held across national borders and individual permits are therefore not sufficient, which is why the decision of the sports ministers of the federal states on July 14 for a possible resumption of the nationwide Competition operation from September in SPORT GERMANY of great importance. The basis for the approval of the Sportminister conference were the new guard rails of the DOSB and the expanded sport-specific regulations of the professional associations for responsible competitive sports under corona conditions. When the decision will be taken up and hopefully confirmed by the Chancellor and the heads of government of the federal states will, of course, also depend on the further course of the pandemic, as well as the support promised by politicians to a wide range of sports players from different sources from the federal government to the federal states and into Municipalities give air to breathe. They help to temporarily mitigate the economic damage that can be expected or already exists due to the lack of events and competitions. The DOSB does its part and has its #supportyoursport campaign! continued to support the clubs. With the great support of partners and prominent athletes, the solidarity of the sportspeople was appealed – new memberships for the clubs should now be activated in the third phase that has now started, meanwhile the team Germany athletes are already preparing for the postponed games. The team management for Tokyo sent a video message to all athletes of Team Germany on July 24, 2020, the actual day of the opening ceremony, with the promise that they would continue to work for the best possible conditions on the way to and in Tokyo 2021 . Also there: Olympic cycling champion Miriam Welte, who encouraged the current athlete. Representing Team D, together with the team management on the roof of the Sports and Olympic Museum in Cologne, she symbolized with a burning torch that the times of the pandemic change the course of time, but the fire continues to burn – in the hearts of the athlete * inside and with the support team. The new Team Germany film with the new sound of Team Germany also contributes to the motivation of the entire team, while DOSB communication on Team Germany’s social media channels is currently taking the actual time of the 2020 games as an occasion Looking back on special Olympic moments and thus increasing the anticipation for the games next year. Under the motto “MORELYMPIA – more anticipation, more preparation, more Olympia” there are exciting glimpses of the past every day. At the same time, SPORT GERMAN should be set in motion. By August 8, the kilometers between the Berlin Olympic Stadium and the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo are to be covered virtually on foot, in the water or by bike. The kilometers are collected via Instagram under the motto #GemeinsamNachTokio. Team Germany’s athletes live up to their role model and collect the first few kilometers at the start, all of which and certainly a lot more in the approximately 90,000 clubs shows how motivated, active and creative sport is in the Corona crisis . Even if the sporting year is completely different from what was ever imaginable (Author: Ulrike Spitz)
