The Governor of the Murmansk region, Andrey Chibis, signed a decree on the creation of the Coordination Council for the socio-economic development of Murmansk, the press service of the regional government reported on Monday.

“In pursuance of the order of the head of the region, Andrei Chibis, a Coordination Council for the socio-economic development of Murmansk has been created in the Arctic,” the message says.

According to the press service, the council is chaired by Deputy Governor Oksana Astakhova, and the first meeting will take place this week. The main tasks of the council will be the coordination of work on the implementation of national projects, as well as the formulation of development priorities, including budget spending priorities.

As the press service of the regional government explained to TASS, the council will include members of the government of the Murmansk region, representatives of the executive authorities, as well as the authorities of Murmansk.

“We have a hot time right now, connected with the fulfillment of all obligations on the roads, for improvement, [it is necessary] to tightly control this. We again see risks in one of the city’s contractors, which, unfortunately, systematically fails. Therefore, I ask you to strictly, clearly control how the work is carried out so that everything is done with the proper quality and within the time frame that we agreed on, “Chibis said during an operational meeting on Monday.
