The Teuchezh interdistrict prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Adygea checked compliance with the legislation on road safety. It was found that on four streets in two settlements of the Teuchezhsky district, where almost 20 families live, there was no street lighting along the roads for three weeks. Duty to ensure road safety, including by organizing street lighting in settlements, belongs to the powers of local self-government bodies. The lack of proper lighting on the streets at night complicates the work of specialized services, entails the risk of accidents in the field of road traffic. In this regard, the prosecutor’s office appealed to the Teuchezhsky district a court with a claim on imposing on municipalities the obligation to organize street lighting of roads in settlements. The applications were satisfied. The lighting has now been restored.
