The Consulate General of Russia in Brno, Czech Republic the ceremony of awarding the medals of the Ministry of defence of the Russian Federation “For merits in perpetuating the memory of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland” Czech citizens, actively participating in the search and military-Patriotic activities on the territory of Moravia. Honorary awards were awarded to the heads of the clubs of military history, representatives of the Museum community, enthusiasts, members of veterans ‘ organizations.

In his speech Consul General of Russia in Brno Alexander Kalachev thanked the awardees for his great personal contribution to the establishment of the names and places of burial of the dead soldiers and stressed the importance of preserving the historical truth about the Second World war in order to counter attempts to distort history, to belittle the decisive role of the red Army in the liberation of Europe and defeat of fascism.

In preparation of events celebrating the 75th anniversary of the victory in the great Patriotic war as the result of archival research was able to establish more than 3,700 new names (previously recorded as unknown) to perpetuate the memorial slabs more than 6,000 people, as well as to systematize and account for all military burials on the territory of the Czech Republic, set 502 new, previously unrecorded, in which lie the remains of more than 4,000 soldiers, said the Head of Representation the Ministry of defence in the Czech Republic on military-memorial work of Alexey Tryakin.
