Grants Will Help Supply PPE for First Responders Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

Congressman Anthony Brindisi announced more than $75,000 in grant funding for fire departments across New York’s 22nd District. Brindisi secured the funding through the bipartisan CARES Act earlier this year.

The grant money, awarded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will help local fire departments acquire personal protective equipment (PPE) and related supplies to the fire service community to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our firefighters have continued their essential work throughout this pandemic and have protected our communities and we thank them for their service,” Brindisi said. “When our firefighters and first responders have the tools to protect themselves, they can continue to do their vital work and keep our communities safe. I’m working every day to deliver additional aid to our essential workers and first responders, and I will keep advocating for relief for Upstate New Yorkers.”

The grant recipients are:

  • City of Cortland Fire Department
  • City of Norwich Fire Department
  • Chenango Fire Company, Inc.
