WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), released the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled in a 7-2 decision that employers could exempt contraception coverage from health plans:
“Today’s dangerous Supreme Court ruling to deny thousands of women access to birth control is devastating. Family planning resources should not depend on where you work or go to school, and an employer’s personal beliefs should not be able to dictate contraception coverage.
“The Supreme Court grossly misread the statute, and I join my colleagues in committing to ending this discriminatory policy as a cosponsor of the Protect Access to Birth Control Act. I will continue the fight to ensure all women can access the contraception and family planning resources they want and need.”
