At the beginning of June, the regional group intervention neutralization, removal and destruction of explosives (GrIN Eod) of the armed forces in the southern zone of the Indian ocean (FAZSOI) has conducted an exercise cynotechnique to the airport Roland Garros with a private company monitoring.

The 1,700 troops deployed to the FAZSOI guarantee the protection of the national territory, and drive regional co-operation since The Meeting and Mayotte. The FAZSOI are the point of main support of the theatre “Indian ocean” to fight against new threats such as piracy or illegal immigration, ensure the surveillance of exclusive economic zones (EEZ) associated with all of the islands of the area of responsibility and maintain a regional capacity for rapid response.
