Introduction

Since 2007, the consultants of the ESF-co-financed funding program “Custom-fit occupation” have been supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in filling their vacant training positions. Since the beginning of the program, a total of around 100,000 apprenticeships and positions for entry qualifications have been filled. The federal government is extending the funding program for another three years. Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Peter Altmaier: “The corona crisis should not become a crisis on the training market. Because today’s trainees are tomorrow’s specialists. With the extension of the “Custom-fit occupation” program, we are helping to ensure dual training in Germany at a consistently high level. I am very pleased that the support of small and medium-sized companies in the recruitment of their future specialists can be continued in the usual quality. ”The currently around 160 consultants nationwide advise companies, determine their need for trainees, create requirement profiles, look for potential trainees , review application documents and conduct selection interviews and aptitude tests. They are also important contacts for the placement of trainees from companies in difficulty. The use of digital channels to make contact plays an important role in the Corona crisis, and information about the funding program can be found at www.bmwi.de/passgenaue-beslassung. The program is set up nationwide. Interested chambers and business organizations can apply until 30 September 2020 as project promoters. The Central Association of German Crafts (ZDH) is the control center for the funding program and provides all the necessary information on the application process at www.zdh.de.
