Early this morning in all garrisons of the Northern fleet near the monuments and memorials established in honor of the defenders of the Motherland who died in the great Patriotic war was held a solemn funeral event in the all-Russian action “Candle of Memory”.

The commander of the red banner, order of Ushakov of the Northern fleet, Hero of Russia Vice-Admiral Alexander Moiseev took part in the action together with the Governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis. They laid flowers to a memorial to Defenders of the Soviet Arctic in the hero-city of Murmansk.

In the main base of Northern fleet – the city of Severomorsk, the action “Candle of Memory” was held at the Military memorial cemetery, where a marble chapel. To pay tribute to the fallen in the great Patriotic war to the memorial came to the chief of staff of the Northern fleet Vice-Admiral Vladimir Grishechkin, head of ZATO Severomorsk Vladimir Evmenov, the commanders of formations deployed in the North sea garrison, the military and residents of the city.

Near the chapel there was a short rally and a prayer. Then participants of the action “Candle of Memory” laid flowers to the memorial stele with the names of those killed in the war of the Northern fleet.

Today in the Orthodox churches all garrisons will be a memorial service and lity for the dead.

Commander of the Northern fleet Vice-Admiral Alexander Moiseev will also take part in another event – “Garden of Remembrance”, which in the Valley of Fame will be planted 75 trees and shrubs in honor of the 75th anniversary of the great Victory of the Soviet people over Nazi fascism.
